My two favorite things!! RWBY and Sakura! Thanks @thanatos-nightshade .

As much as gauntlets similar to Yang's could fit her beautifully, I just can't seem let go of Sakura using her big ass axes! I also imagined her semblance being "Healing", but she only figures it out later on and all throughout the academy years she'd try to compensate her lack of skill by using these huge exaggerated weapons - little did anyone realize that her abnormal strength to use said weapons was already her own body healing itself as she overexerted her muscles beyond its limits.

Blessing of the Hunt

It was Christmas Eve in the Kingdom of Vale and Jaune, Blake, Sun, Scarlet, Sage and Neptune all gathered around a table inside the Crow Bar tavern. Each of the boys guzzled on a large pint of beer, much to the concern of Blake.

Blake: Jaune, that's the fifth beer you've chugged down. Let me get you some water.

Jaune: Nononono, *giggles* I'm fiiiiiiiiine~

Blake: Jaune, sweetie, you're drunk.

Sage: Ah lay off him! *hic* After being dragged by that Nevermore, he's earned himself a treat!

Scarlet: Barkeep! Another round for my friends! *smashes cup on the floor*

Blake: *shakes head* I don't think so. *carries Jaune* Come on, Jaune.

Jaune: Wha? But we're having fuuuuuunnn!

Blake: You've had quite enough fun here, Mister. Besides, I'm not cleaning up after you again.

Jaune: Don't worrrrrrry, I got it *burp* all under control!

Blake: *groans* Let's just get out of here.

Blake waved goodbye to the SSSN Knights and carried her drunken boyfriend outside. She felt a cold tingle on her nose and looked up to find that it started to snow. She and Jaune trudged along the path to their house, with the snow falling faster and heavier. Soon the air turned biting cold and a low howl rumbled in Blake's ears. Her eyes shrank and her breath became sharp. They needed somewhere to hide. Fast. Blake's eyes darted around the landscape and they fell upon an icy forest. It wasn't perfect, but it should suffice for now. Blake quietly grunted as she trudged along, dragging Jaune. As she continued stepping forward, the howls grew louder and they were followed by the violent galloping of hooves. Blake had no time to think and hurled herself and Jaune behind a nearby tree.

Jaune: B-Blaaaake? Wha-

Blake: *covers Jaune's mouth* Shhhh. We have to be quiet. Otherwise we'll be seen by them.

Jaune: *whispers* W-Who?

Suddenly, a loud bang cracked the air and a pale horse appeared right in front of the couple. It had ghastly, glowing blue eyes and sat atop it was a cloaked man wearing a crow's mask and wielding a sword and chain Slowly, he turned his head and growled.

Wild Hunt Leader: Well, well, well. Looks like some travellers dared to venture into our forests. This place is off limits to mortals, I'm afraid.

Blake: *gulps*L-Listen, o' honourable leader of The Wild Hunt, we were only trying to escape from the snow and-

Wild Hunt Leader: I don't want to hear your excuses, dear. Those who trespass here have to pay the toll; your lives. *points sword* Don't worry, I'll be sure to make it quick.

The Wild Hunt Leader raised his sword to hack at Blake, but Jaune quickly rose up and grabbed the blade, wincing at cuts in his hands.

Jaune: Grrrr! Don'cha *hic* lay a fffffinger on herrrrrrr.

Blake: Jaune, no! What are you doing?!

Wild Hunt Leader: I'd listen to your beloved if I were you. No one has ever dared to fight us and survive. You're completely outclassed.

Jaune: Whooo ssssssaid anyshing abou fightin' ya? *giggles* I gotta bedder idea!

Blake: Oh for the love of- *facepalm*

Jaune: You and I play tugofwar! If we win, we go bye-bye! If you win, you can lemme be a while hunger!

Wild Hunt Leader: *chuckles* I assure you that we are not that desperate for new members, especially the living.

Jaune: Oh come onnnnnn! You chicken? Bawk-bawk-bawk.

Wild Hunt Leader: *laughs* Very well. *gives chain* We'll go three rounds. Good luck.

The Wild Hunt Leader gave one end of the chain to Jaune as he held onto the other and rode far away to other side of the forest. Blake was in complete shock. Jaune was impulsive and reckless, but she never known him to be this stupid. Her blood was boiling with anger and her brow furrowed.

Blake: What the hell were you thinking?! How could you gamble our very lives like this?! You do not stand a chance against him, you know that! Why would you even-

Jaune: *covers Blake's mouth* Shhhhhhhh, I has a plans! Look.

Jaune wrapped the chain around the tree trunk several times, gritting his teeth from the heavy weight.

Jaune: Watch this. *shouts* Ready!

From the distance, the Wild Hunt Leader tugged hard, making the chain rattle. However, it still stood wrapped around the tree. He tried again, but the same thing happened. The Wild Hunt Leader roared and tugged again for a third and final time. But the chain still stood intact. Blake looked at Jaune, who grinned at her.

Jaune: Neat, huh?

The Wild Hunt Leader rode back and found out what happened. He dismounted his horse walked towards Jaune. Jaune backed into the tree and felt his heart race. He was going to die. He knew it. But then something peculiar happend happened. The Wild Hunt Leader took the sword from his belt and placed it Jaune's hands.

Jaune: ....huh?

Wild Hunt Leader: You have bested me, mortal and for that, I congratulate you with this gift.

Jaune: B-B-B-But I cheastesd.

Wild Hunt Leader; No you didn't, you beat me. Battle is not just about strength, it's about wits too. That is what truly keeps you alive. I honour with this gift; the sword Crocea Mors.

Jaune: *smiles* Shank you! *bows clumsily*

Wild Hunt Leader: Farewell, mortals *mounts horse*and Merry Christmas.

The horse gave a booming neigh as the Wild Hunt Leader rode off to join his troops. Blake gave a warm smile and wrapped Jaune in a loving hug.

Blake: *giggles* This is the last time you're drinking, mister. I mean it, no more.

Jaune: Awww, okays. *hugs her*

Blake: *kisses Jaune* Merry Christmas, sweetheart.

Team leaders I want to see together again!

I've been listening to the After the Fall and Before the Dawn audiobooks, the ones that feature team CFVY and team SSSN in Vacuo, with a few flashbacks to Beacon days.

Some of my thoughts:

While I have read better RWBY fanfic, I thought they were still good books, with some great moments.

I loved the handling of team CFVY, especially Velvet and Yatsuhashi as dedicated partners. Coco and Fox, and Coco and Velvet are great too, and the whole team dynamics as well. They were all fleshed out well.

I'm a bit confused why Mistral is considered more racist against faunus than Atlas. I know there were 'no faunus' signs in Mistral, but I have a vague recollection that it's not the only place with that sort of bigotry. That and the headmaster of Haven in Mistral was a faunus. If it was the worst place in Remnant for faunus, how'd Lionheart end up as headmaster?

I loved the flashbacks that included team RWBY, even if the narrator made Ruby far too squeaky (on the whole the narrator did a good job with everyone though). I just wish there could've been some in Before the Dawn as well as After the Fall.

Sun started out more annoying than I remember him being in the show, which made it satisfying seeing him taken to task for abandoning his team. I am grateful for the help he gave the Belladonnas, but his team certainly have a right to resent him for leaving them. More than once at that, with how he doesn't travel with them to Beacon in Volume 1.

Funniest line for me: Scarlet's POV when hoping Sun doesn't hurt himself by thinking too hard. To be clear: I don't hate Sun. Scarlet being snarky and salty was just fun for me to read.

Fox and Yatsu coming close to torturing information out of Neptune using his fear of water against him made me wince, but it also made sense. Velvet matters so much to them.

It's also kind of funny to me how Sun did what Ruby did in Volume 8 with the message to everyone with a scroll, if on a smaller scale, localised to Vacuo. Which means that Sun is about as famous to Vacuans as Ruby is to Remnant. He also did good with that message, inspiring ordinary citizens to join in the fight against the Crown.

Yatsu saved the day more than anyone, although it was very much a group effort. Having to use his Semblance so much when he hates using it can't have been easy on him.

I do like Sun's growth, and how he finally talked to his team, with the rift being healed (or at least well on the way there).

With the Volume 9 epilogue showing Gillian and Jax Asturias escaping prison, no thanks to Tyrian and Mercury, we definitely haven't seen the last of them. And the thought of their Semblances at Salem's disposal is rather worrying. Not to mention that it'd be so much harder to deal with Jax's Semblance if Yatsu was killed. I'd really rather that didn't happen, he's tied with Velvet for my fav out of team CFVY.

With any Gillian and Jax would both turn on Salem eventually if they think she'd do too much harm to their kingdom, but the problem is getting them to realise the danger.

It's not going to be fun for Jaune to meet a Jackalope Grimm after Volume 9. I mean, by the sounds of it no Grimm are fun to meet, but especially that sort for him after spending so long with Juniper in the Ever After.

*On the other side of the arena with team SSSN when Jaune skates over to fuck with them*

Jaune: Hurry up and score a fucking goal already. I'm getting the bedtime sillies.

Sun: Fuck off, Jaune! Give us our time-out.

Jaune: Fuck you, Sun! Tell your mom to give me a time-out. The last time I tried that, she threatened to take a header on me into an empty pool at the Quality Suites.

*Sun zoning out in rage*

Neptune: Fuck you, Jaune! Leave us alone.

Jaune: Fuck you, Neptune! Tell your mom to leave me alone. She's been laying in my fucking water bed since Labor Day.

Sun/Scarlett/Sage/Neptune: FUCK YOU, JAUNE!

Jaune: Fuck you all. Your lives are so sad, I get a charity tax break just for hanging out with you. Nice sweep, no sweep. Give your balls a tug. *Skates off*

Theodore pointed to Neo

Jaune: Ask you

Everything in the room fell silent. Yang was the only one who started laughing.

Theodore: I must remind you that you are talking to the Headmaster of this academy

Jaune: So what do you have to say about her, dear Headmaster?

Jaune pointed to Raven.

( The epilogue of v9 was "released" but the episode wasn't even finished, it was still in the storyboarding process, I don't consider it an epilogue, it's just something to draw attention to itself )

Jaune: And her

Jaune pointed to Esmeralda.

Jaune: Let's not forget them

Jaune pointed out to the RWBY team that, in the eyes of the people of Atlas, they were responsible for the destruction of the kingdom.

Jaune: You know, you're a bit of a hypocrite, 7 criminals in your school and you still complain about my wife. And who came up with the idea of calling her

Jaune pointed at Raven without looking directly at her.

Oscar/Ozpin: I

Jaune: Why am I not surprised, your incompetence has no Ozma

Weiss: Jaune!

Jaune: Me lying? His incompetence knows no bounds, he was in charge of Beacon and Beacon fell, he had important information when we were in Atlas but he didn't open his damn mouth!

Jaune: We've lost the relic of creation, the relic of knowledge is useless, Vacuo has become the favorite destination for Grimms and we have 1 maiden who wants to kill us and 2 missing maidens

Jaune: So I ask if anyone, ANYONE! had a plan, so said

Jaune looked at everyone, he looked at team RWBY, Qrow, Winter, Marrow Amin leader of Ace Operatives, Coco leader of CFYV and other leaders of elite hunting teams.

Vanitas Lunarblue.

Vanitas: So, boy, what are your plans?

Jaune: Wow, let's use the relic of destruction

This surprised everyone, and those who had just learned about the relics were shocked.

Vanitas: Let's see who will use the sword that can destroy the world

Jaune: Ren

Ren himself was shocked.

Ren: Why me

Jaune: You told me yourself that you've improved your Semblance, you told me yourself that you can suppress your emotions for hours now

Jaune: If you don't depend on your emotions then only reason will remain, and besides, I trust you. I know you well enough to know that you wouldn't let innocent people suffer

Ren was happy with his former leader's words.

Neo with his Semblance made a pile of papers appear on the table.

Jaune: I had some extra time and did a little study and now the Army of Atlas will serve as a line of defense and transport, they will enter combat unless it is strangely necessary, the focus will now be on protecting and better Vacuo

Jaune: About Nightmares Grimms. With only the VATC (Vatican) team, they are the only ones who can face these monsters and leaving only one is too risky, the CYFV team will help them in the battles

Jaune: Other teams like SSSN and others, I first need to know which areas they are good at.

Jaune turned his gaze to the RWBY team.

Jaune: Ruby, you'll be away from the battlefields and will work in weapons maintenance, your weapons creation and repair will be put to good use. Yang and Weiss both go to work as aides to the Atlas military. Blake, you and your Faunus features are going as vigilantes.

Blake: This is racism

Jaune: Blame God for creating the black night sky. Salem is going after the relics. We need to get in touch with Headmistress Glynda as soon as possible

Somewhere out at sea an Express Cruiser the Valean Fishing Vessel "The Raging Sloth" lazily rides the waves

Ren: *Behind the wheel, a bicorn on his head, humming a sea shanty to himself* This is nice.

Jaune: *Watching over a set of heavy duty fishing poles* Thanks for reminding to take my motion-sickness meds, guys. I almost forgot them in the excitement.

Sun: *Sitting on a deck chair, brewski in hand* Hey, no problem my guy. We all got a little excited.

Neptune: *A face on a Wide-Scroll that's hanging from the cabin wall.* Yeah, weird how that happens.

Sage: *Standing with Jaune, minding the poles* Still, it's great to just be away from everything for a bit. Just us, the water, the fishing poles...

Scarlet: *On the upper level of the boat* A large boat approaching fast!

Sage: And large boats approaching fast... Wait what?

A larger vessel is making a beeline for the Raging Sloth. Before long it pulls up beside them.

Sun: We should... should we be worried?

Jaune: *Sharing a look with Ren, who slowly nods* Yes. Yes, we should probably be worried.

????: ~Ahoy, Boyos!~

Jaune: Not probably... Definitely.

Yang: *Standing on the deck of the larger vessel (The Dolphin Puncher) in swimming trunks and a most flattering bikini-top, a straw hat sits on top of her wild blonde locks* You guys thought you could just go out to sea and NOT invite me?! A Patch-girl born and raised? I was fishing long before I started punching! And I started doing that before I could properly walk.

Jaune: *Trying to find a way out, looking at the rest of the guys* Well... it might...

Ren: *Placed his bicorn on top of Jaune's head, has fled deep into the boat's cabin*

Sun: *Finding the fishing poles very interesting*

Scarlet: *Minding his business up top*

Sage: *Joined Scarlet*

Neptune: *Disconnected Scroll call*

Jaune: Traitors. It might have slipped our minds our little. Say... who's also there with you?

Nora: *Sickeningly sweet tone, in a cute pink one-piece with frills* ~Oh, Renny.~ That tub of yours better have a captain's cabin.

Ren: *Muffled noises of a barricade being erected*

Nora: *Heading into the cabin* Oh ho ho, I do like a challenge.

Jaune: Right... And the rest is there too, right? Weiss paying?

Weiss: *In a white and blue bikini, sarong and a very wide-brimmed hat to keep the sun from her perfectly pale skin* Against my better judgement, yes. Just be thankful I've got access to my own private, and very sizable, funds.

Blake: *Already on The Raging Sloth, wearing a form-fitting diving suit with the front zipped down, she's watching the fishing poles with Sun* These waters are renowned for their tuna. I was never not going to join because of that.

Ruby: *In swimming trunks, Menagerie-patterned shirt and a Patch Strikers Cap* Our dad's got the local record for most fish and biggest fish caught back home. Imma gonna get those international prices, buddy!

Jaune: Well, it's lovely of you to be here, I guess. Uhm. Where's Pyrrha?

Yang: Oh yeah... she's hyping herself up.

Jaune: What's that supposed... to... *Sees the last person appearing next to Yang*

Pyrrha: *In a red and green patterned bikini that accentuates each and every curve of her perfectly toned body, her brilliant long red hair freely cascading down her back, has a shy but radiant smile as she greets Jaune* Hello, again.

Jaune: *Blinks once, twice* Oh... Hello to you too.

Yang: Alright, dumb stuff out of the way. Let's get to business!

Various noises of various levels of excitement rang out that day.

No-one was allowed, nor had the intention of entering the captain's quarters. The noises scared everyone, but Ren was congratulated afterwards by all the guys on board.

Sun caught the biggest tuna, it was lost to the greedy, hungry belly of one Blake Belladonna who "Regrets nothing!".

Ruby caught the biggest tuna that the rest managed to keep Blake away from.

Weiss did not catch a sunburn, surprising everyone including herself.

Jaune did not get motion-sick, also surprising everyone.

Pyrrha finally got her hands on her knight. The knight is still somewhat confused but happier than ever.
